At Astley Grange, we are a quaint care home in North Huddersfield. With a community of just forty residents, we have created an extended family and a true home for your loved ones. We always place our residents at the heart of what we do. So we’ve had a busy spring, fostering community connections and celebrating special milestones along the way.

Living away from your family can be a difficult transition, so we make sure to celebrate our residents in every way that we can. We had an amazing celebration on Mother’s Day, honouring the wonderful women that we care for. Even those left without families around them deserve to be celebrated.
The home was filled with cards, flowers and decorations from our staff. We invited the families of our residents in with tea and buns for a day of celebration and appreciation for the mothers and grandmothers that we care for.
But cards and flowers aren’t the only way we treat our residents. Everyone deserves to be pampered, and there is no better place than in our new nail salon. We make sure our residents are feeling their best, inside and out. These quiet moments of self-care and one-on-one time with our staff are so valuable for our residents, and the perfect opportunity to make them feel special.

It’s a space for our residents to relax, have meaningful conversations and leave with greater self-confidence.
And what better day to open our salon than on Valentine’s Day? Alongside the pink and red nails, our wonderful kitchen staff decorated the home with pink cupcakes, so all of our residents had a little extra love this Valentine’s. We understand how difficult these celebrations can be for those living away from their families, or without families at all. This is why we prioritise these small gestures so that each resident feels special and appreciated.
Of course, spring would not be complete without Pancake Day. Once again our incredible kitchen staff made the day, filling the home with the smell of lemon and sugar. We love bringing new life to traditional holidays and reminiscing with our residents about years of fond memories of these special days.
This is not just for fun but to keep those memories alive, and to act against dementia wherever we can. We spent the afternoon sharing stories and favourite recipes, anchoring our residents in the happiness of these memories and fighting against memory loss.
It is not just special holidays that we celebrate. We believe in prioritising the everyday social life of our residents and caregivers, so that we create a community where real relationships are formed. We love our cake, coffee, and craft mornings, when our dining table is transformed into a studio.
Not only are these mornings the perfect way for our residents to bond with each other and share stories, but we also encourage our residents to express themselves creatively. It is never too late to learn new tricks. There is no better feeling than seeing the accomplishments of our residents as they take pride in their crafts, creating something new that they can’t wait to show their families.
We also pride ourselves on monthly social nights with extra-special games, food, and themes. Our residents’ families to join in the fun and create even stronger connections among the people who make Astley Grange the incredible place it is. If you’d like to celebrate with us, pop in for our Easter raffle in April.
We believe that a care home is not just about providing the necessary care. It’s about offering a new life, community, and friends to our residents.
Come have a look around the home and see some of our wonderful staff and activities in the flesh. Contact us to arrange a tour. We’d love to meet you and add to our community here at Astley Grange.
