When someone you love moves into a care home you need to be guaranteed that they will be treated like an individual person. At Mulberry Care Homes we can make that promise. We ensure that the care we give is tailored to each person, with personalised care is at the heart of everything we do.
No two residents are the same. Each resident brings different experiences, preferences, routines, and needs. We take the time to get to know each person well and create a care plan that reflects them. This plan is based on who they are and what they enjoy doing, not just the necessities for them to stay healthy.

The way we make care special for each person starts before they even move in. We talk to future residents, and to their family and friends, to build a comprehensive profile of them. By knowing what food they like to eat, what they like to do for fun and all the things that make them feel at home, we can tailor their life at Mulberry.
We ask things like do they like to take a shower in the morning or at night, or what time they like to get up. These questions might seem simple but these conversations help us build a picture of the whole person and how to make them happy.
A care plan is not something we write and then live by. It’s a living record that we review and update regularly as a resident’s needs, preferences, and well-being change over time.
Our staff are trained to keep an eye on each person and if something changes we make sure to write it into their care plan. We talk to doctors, nurses and other and other healthcare professionals to ensure that medical care is carefully implemented with day-to-day support, always with the resident’s comfort and dignity at the centre.
For residents living with dementia, this ongoing approach is especially important. We understand that dementia affects every person differently, and our specialist dementia care teams are skilled at adapting to a resident’s changing needs with patience, sensitivity, and genuine warmth.
Personalised care is about giving people the freedom to make their own decisions. Whether it’s choosing what to wear, deciding how to spend an afternoon, or opting in or out of activities, we encourage independence wherever possible.
Our activity programmes are thoughtfully varied, offering everything from creative arts and crafts to social events and outings. This way every resident can engage with something that resonates with them. We never pressure anyone to participate; instead, we gently encourage and always remain attentive to what each individual enjoys.

We know that families play a central role in a resident’s well-being. That’s why we prioritise open communication. We keep families informed and involved in care planning, welcoming their insights and feedback throughout the process. The people who love and know a resident best are an invaluable part of the journey.
Our staff build genuine, lasting relationships with both residents and their families. We want every family to feel reassured that their loved one is known, valued, and cared for as an individual.
Ultimately personalised care is about making Mulberry feel like home to our residents. It’s about the staff who remember that a resident likes their tea with two sugars. Or taking notice when someone seems quieter than usual. These small acts of kindness make a difference.
At our homes in Huddersfield and Holmfirth we provide care that focuses on the person. Every resident deserves to feel comfortable, valued and safe. We make sure they get that.
